Dry bead Blasting

Here are some medias that we stock and use regularly, with a brief description of the finishes that can be achieved.

  • Aluminium oxide can be used for the removal of heat treatment, mild rust and cleaning components giving them a dull matte uniform finish.
  • Glass bead is mainly used for finishing dry blasting will often leave components with a bright satin finish, wet glass is also a good process for preparing new machined parts for anodizing.
  • Iron shavings is a very aggressive form of media that can be used for stripping paint back to bare metal and also removing heavy rust.

vapour Blasting

Also known as Wet Blasting because the machine cleans by mixing a flow of water and water borne abrasive, giving a finer finish. A few examples of parts that are usually Vapour Blasted are Engine components and gear boxes. Some of the main advantages to Vapour Blasting include:

  • Dust free process
  • Simultaneously degrease & blast clean
  • Water acts as a lubricant between media & component
  • Promotes longer media life Produces a 'softer' finish
  • Avoids media impregnation on soft materials
